The Saint Challenge Day 84 – Blessed Benedetta Bianchi Porro – January 23

Benedetta Bianchi Porro was born in Italy in 1936, the second of six children. At the age of three months, she contracted polio, and it was only the beginning of a life full of health problems. By the age of 13, she began to lose her hearing and have problems walking, and by the age of 23, the slow paralysis of her nervous system left her completely deaf and with declining senses of touch, taste, and smell. She was frequently visited by friends and lifted the spirits of everyone around her. Even when she was barely able to speak and could only move her right hand, she shared her heroic faith and the hope and love and light of Jesus that illuminated her heart. She died at the age of 27.

CHALLENGE

Blessed Benedetta Bianchi Porro never lost her cheery attitude and love for God, no matter the burden of the crosses she had to carry. Today, prayerfully consider the crosses you are carrying. Then pray for Blessed Benedetta Bianchi Porro to show you how to carry them with a smile, and share your love of God with all those around you.
