The Saint Challenge Day 162 – St. Miguel de Sanctis – April 10

In 1591, Miguel Argemir was born in Spain. By the age of six, he said he wanted to be a monk, and he began to imitate the lifestyle of St. Francis of Assisi so rigorously that his parents had to prevent him from living such a harsh life at a young age. After his parents died he joined the Trinitarian friars at the age of 12. At 16 he took his initial vows, taking the name Miguel de Sanctis, or “Michael of the Saints.” Miguel had a tender compassion for the poor, a love for prayer, and a profound humility. His reputation for holiness spread quickly, and his confreres considered him a living saint. He was elected the superior of his monastery after his ordination, and he died of natural causes at 33.

CHALLENGE

St. Miguel de Sanctis had such a profound devotion to the Blessed Sacrament that during the consecration he would often fall into deep ecstasies. To love someone you need to spend time with them. How much time do you spend with Jesus? Today, commit to a regular Holy Hour of Eucharistic Adoration. If you already have one, commit to spending an extra 15 minutes there.
