The Saint Challenge Day 23 – Blessed Miguel Agustín Pro – November 23

Born in Mexico in 1891, Blessed Miguel Agustín Pro entered the novitiate of the Society of Jesus at the age of 20. During the Mexican Revolution, he was exiled to Belgium, where he was ordained. He returned in 1926, a time when the Mexican government was persecuting the Catholic Church. He moved around using disguises to bring the sacraments to Catholics who practiced their faith in secret. He was betrayed to the police and sentenced to death without a trial. He refused a blindfold, forgave his executioners, and just before he was martyred by firing squad he shouted “Long live Christ the King!”

CHALLENGE

Blessed Miguel Agustin Pro said, “We ought to speak, shout out against injustices, with confidence and without fear. We proclaim the principles of the Church, the reign of love, without forgetting that it is also a reign of justice.” Ask the Holy Spirit what principles of the Church you are called to proclaim. Write it down and put that reminder where you’ll see it every day.
