The Saint Challenge Day 231 – Blessed Osanna Andreasi – June 18

Osanna Andreasi was born in Italy in 1449 to a noble family, and at the age of five she was walking along a river when an angel appeared to her and said, “To enter Heaven it is necessary to love God very much: See how all created things sing His glory and proclaim it to men.” Denied a theology tutor, she was taught by visions of the Blessed Virgin Mary. She became a third order Dominican around the age of 16, and when her parents died she cared for her siblings, waiting until she was 52 to complete her vows. For most of her life, she ate little, experienced the pains of the Passion, bore the marks of the stigmata, had powerful ecstasies, cared for the poor, gave spiritual direction, and wrote hundreds of letters that still survive.

CHALLENGE

Blessed Osanna Andreasi was a powerful influence on the society around her, and she frequently spoke out against the lack of morality in society, especially concerning those in positions of power and influence. In our modern age, a lack of morality is still a problem. Today, prayerfully consider your own morality of dress and speech. How can you live a more moral life and be a better influence on the society around you?
