The Saint Challenge Day 58 – Feast of the Holy Innocents – December 28

King Herod was not exactly a popular king with the people of Israel. He enjoyed his political connections with the Romans, and in terms of his faith, he was apathetic at best. His concern was only the preservation of his power. He realized that the Christ represented a threat to his kingship and all that came with it. As the Holy Family fled quietly to Egypt, Herod ordered his soldiers to murder every male child in his kingdom under the age of two in an attempt to kill the Christ child. These martyrs are known as the Holy Innocents, and today is their feast day.

CHALLENGE

The coming of Christ is a cause for joy and celebration, but not everyone rejoiced. Similarly, the coming of a baby is a cause for joy and celebration, but some people see a baby as a threat to their way of life. Today, say the Rosary with the intention of an end to abortion. If you have children, have them join you.
